Q: What motivated you to enter Lakeland University Japan?
I spent my high school life in the States and it was Japanese who I first became good friends with. I found many similarities in Japan between Korea such as cultures. I had some kind of interests in Japan since then, but I was thinking about going to a college in Boston. But I happened to know about Lakeland University Japan by a friend of mine and I thought it would be a great opportunity for me to enjoy life in Japan since I don’t have to worry about my language problem to take classes.
So it was like a “kill two birds with one stone” ideal environment.
Q:. How is the atmosphere of the school?
It is not a big school so students and teachers have a close distance to each other and that creates homey atmosphere.
I was a little worried because I came to Japan without even knowing Hiragana. But eventually, I became accustomed to the life in Japan thanks to staff from school and friends.
Classes are also offered to small numbers so that professors can make sure the understanding of each of students and give us profound contents.
Students are very friendly to hang out and I often go eat with friends after school.
Q: What kind of job do you want with your skill in Japanese, Korean and English?
I want to be a psychologist in the future to help foreigners with worries about living abroad. The job doesn’t necessarily need 3 languages but as long as I can use them, I think it will help me with understanding other countries’ cultures and ways of thinking.
Q:Would you like to give a comment to the students who are thinking about going to Lakeland?
For those who want to study seriously, or think about acquiring English skill, this is the best place to go.
Also, although it is located in Japan, students communicate in English and rules of school are all in American way, so once you enter the gate of this university, here is America!!
