国際紅白歌合戦in豊明市　世界の子供たちと日本の子供たちが仲良く歌います。

愛知県豊明市で、7月12日に、国際紅白歌合戦in豊明市が開催されます。

45年ぶりに奈良県天理高校の同窓会で会った友人と始めた企画です。

彼は、長年、NPOのボランティア活動で、外国人子女の日本語教室を愛知県豊明市でしていましたが、もっとその重要性を日本人の人たちにも知ってもらい、また、参加する外国籍の子供たちが楽しく日本語勉強する一助になればとこの企画を立ち上げました。

絵や漫画などを取り入れたオリジナル教材を使って3か月間の集中講座で、何とか学校の勉強についていけるようになるカリキュラムを認定NPO法人プラスエデュケートが作っています。

幼少の子供たちが、日本の小学校、中学校でも、日本語がしっかり出来れば、日本人の子供たちとも仲良く学校生活を送れます。日本語がわからないと、学校に行かなくなったり、場合によっては、非行に走る可能性もあります。

同じような状況に置かれている自治体は日本中、たくさんあると思いますので、豊明市での小さな第一歩が、社会的に大きな第一歩になることを願っています。

International Red and White Singing Festival in Toyoake City
Children from around the world and children from Japan will sing together in friendship.

The International Red and White Singing Festival in Toyoake City will be held on July 12 in Toyoake City, Aichi Prefecture.

This project began when I met a friend for the first time in 45 years at a Tenri High School reunion in Nara Prefecture.

He had spent many years as a volunteer with an NPO, teaching Japanese to children of foreign nationality in Toyoake City, Aichi Prefecture. He started this project because he wanted more Japanese people to understand how important this work is, and also to help the foreign children who participate enjoy learning Japanese.

Using original teaching materials that incorporate pictures and manga, the certified NPO Plus Educate has created a three-month intensive course designed to help children acquire enough Japanese to keep up with their schoolwork.

If young children can master Japanese well enough to do well in Japanese elementary and junior high schools, they will be able to enjoy school life and build good friendships with Japanese children. If they do not understand Japanese, they may stop going to school, and in some cases may even be drawn into delinquent behavior.

I believe that many municipalities across Japan face similar situations, and I sincerely hope that this small first step in Toyoake City will become a socially significant first step as well.
