The Path to Global Talent: Learning from HNI’s “Sama-Sama” Model

We covered a lecture at Kwansei Gakuin University by Mr. Haruyama, President of HNI, a pioneering company addressing Japan’s urgent shortage of caregiving personnel. By building a “corridor of trust” between Japan and Indonesia, HNI is working toward a sustainable solution to this pressing social challenge.

We also attended a lecture by Mr. Hidetoshi Tojo, who has long contributed a series on Shinto and Japanese culture to Global Community. His talk, titled “Spiritual End of the War Peace Flame Ceremony,” explored themes of reconciliation and the spiritual conclusion of war.

I attended the special event “The New Wave of Asia: Asian Pop Moving the World,” jointly hosted by Doshisha Women’s College of Liberal Arts and Dong-Ah Institute of Media and Arts（DIMA） The venue was filled with an energetic atmosphere, as people gathered to experience the forefront of music and culture.

2. GC Student Interpreter Volunteer Guide was registered on the Japan National Tourism Organization website.

There are very few organizations that are run mainly by students, so it took some time for our application to be accepted. However, our long‑term, continuous activities at Meiji Jingu Shrine, Houkoku Shrine, and other locations were recognized. By 2019, more than 300 students had taken part in our activities. After the COVID‑19 pandemic, we restarted our work in 2022, focusing on Osaka Castle and Houkoku Shrine. By 2025, the number of registered student members had exceeded 60.
